The meeting aims to explore practical measures for expanding bilateral economic relations, removing barriers to trade, and implementing the roadmap to increase annual trade between Iran and Pakistan to USD 10 billion. A total of 19 key agenda items are being discussed during the negotiations.

Among the members of the Iranian delegation is Dr. Mohammad Saeid Arbabi, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of the Chabahar Free Zone Organization, who is pursuing initiatives to promote the strategic role and investment potential of the Chabahar Free Zone, the Rimdan Detached Zone, and the proposed Rimdan-Gabd Joint Free Zone in strengthening bilateral economic, transit, and logistics cooperation.

One of the principal topics under discussion is the proposed Iran-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (FTA). Other key agenda items include establishing a bilateral barter trade mechanism, removing transit barriers, facilitating the movement of Iranian containers through Pakistani ports, developing border infrastructure in the Rimdan-Gabd area, and improving cross-border road transport and logistics.

The development of infrastructure at the Rimdan-Gabd border crossing has emerged as one of the most significant areas of bilateral cooperation. Owing to its strategic location, the border is expected to play a pivotal role as a gateway for expanding trade, transit, and economic interaction between the two neighboring countries.

Another important initiative under consideration is the construction of an independent access route connecting the Rimdan Detached Zone of the Chabahar Free Zone directly to the Pakistan border. The project is intended to facilitate cross-border movement, reduce transportation costs, improve logistics efficiency, and further strengthen Chabahar's position within regional trade networks.

The meeting is also examining proposals to integrate the maritime capacities of the two countries by linking the Gwadar maritime gateway with the Rimdan border crossing, as well as developing a railway corridor connecting the ports of Chabahar and Gwadar.

These strategic initiatives could establish a complementary regional transit route and enhance the role of the two countries' ocean ports in international trade.

Other important topics include promoting joint industrial production, particularly in the textile sector, addressing banking and financial challenges faced by traders, facilitating the issuance of business visas, and activating joint border markets. These issues are among the priorities being pursued by Iran's Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade during his meetings and negotiations with Pakistani officials.

The participation of the Chabahar Free Zone Organization in the committee meeting reflects the strategic importance of Chabahar as Iran's only oceanic free zone and port, serving as a vital gateway connecting regional countries to international waters. The event provides an important opportunity to strengthen Iran-Pakistan economic cooperation, expand regional transport corridors, and capitalize on the complementary capacities of Chabahar-Rimdan and Gwadar-Gabd through the establishment of the proposed Rimdan-Gabd Joint Free Zone.
