The 7th Coordination Committee Forum of International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) will be held in Tehran March 4-5

'The Forum will be held at deputy level, and the goals include facilitation of transportation along the international corridor, standardization of tariffs and ease of customs documents exchange,' Amin Tarafo', general director of international corridors department at Iran's Ministry of Roads and Urban Development told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Development of the corridor, commercialization, promotion of trade at the end points, and decreasing the cost of transportation are among other goals of the forum, he said.

'The two missing links along the international corridor are the railways connecting the southeastern Iranian cities of Chabahar to Zahedan, and Rasht to Astara in north of the country,' the Iranian official.

He further referred to Qazvin-Rasht corridor as a major part of the corridor that would be inaugurated by the end of the week.

Transporting goods from India to the Iranian southern ports, such as Chabahar and Shahid Rajai, to be exported to Russia and Europe is a goal that Iran pursues through development of the corridor, he said.

The agreement of INSTC was signed by Iran, India and Russia in 2000, and other eleven members – Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus, Oman, Syria and Bulgaria – joined the mega project.
